The Advanced Professional Certificate in Business Continuity, Organisational Resilience & Recovery
Planning develops advanced capability to prepare organisations to withstand disruption, continue
critical activities and recover in a structured, timely and credible way.
Informed by recognised business continuity, organisational resilience and risk management
principles (awareness level), the programme integrates:
- Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and continuity strategy awareness,
- Development of Business Continuity Plans (BCPs) and recovery plans,
- Integration with emergency response, crisis management and IT/technology recovery, and
- Building a culture of resilience through leadership, training and exercising.
This programme does not provide legal, financial or engineering certification, nor does it replace
specialist IT/DR or security qualifications. It builds practical, awareness-level professional
competence to design, coordinate and embed business continuity and resilience frameworks within
organisations.
Why This Course is Important?
- Disruptions are inevitable: Cyber-attacks, power failures, supply chain interruptions, health events, civil disturbance, natural hazards and technology breakdowns can stop operations without warning.
- Continuity is a leadership expectation: Boards, regulators, investors and customers increasingly expect documented, tested business continuity and recovery arrangements, not just informal “workarounds”.

- Explain key concepts of business continuity management (BCM), organisational resilience and recovery planning (awareness level).
- Contribute to or lead a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) to identify critical activities, dependencies and recovery priorities.

Entry Requirements
- Experience in operations, risk, HSE, security, IT/technology, governance, audit, emergency planning or management is recommended.

- Prior completion of a foundation-level course in risk, emergency management or DRR/BC is beneficial but not mandatory.
