Courses
Advanced Professional Certificate in Chemical Peels & Microneedling (Non-Medical Practice)
A safety-led, practice-intensive programme that builds advanced competence in cosmetic chemical
peels and cosmetic microneedling for non-medical settings.
Course Overview
A safety-led, practice-intensive programme that builds advanced competence in cosmetic chemical
peels and cosmetic microneedling for non-medical settings. Learners master client selection,
contraindication screening, patch testing, protocol design, hygienic execution, post-care, and
incident response—so services are delivered consistently, ethically, and within non-medical scope.
The programme emphasises evidence-ready documentation, device/product IFU compliance, and
insurer/regulatory expectations.
Why This Course is Important?
- Client safety & trust: Robust screening, depth/strength control, and aseptic workflow reduce complications.
- Predictable results: Structured assessment → protocol → after-care improves outcomes and reviews.
- Commercial confidence: Clear service menus, pricing, and rebooking plans aligned to safe indications.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:
- Conduct advanced consultation (medical/lifestyle screening, Fitzpatrick typing) and decide to proceed, defer, or refer.
- Explain cosmetic peel categories (enzymatic; superficial AHA/BHA; non-medical resurfacing systems) and select suitable strengths/forms within local non-medical limits.
- Plan and deliver cosmetic microneedling protocols (depth ranges appropriate to jurisdiction and device IFUs) with aseptic technique and controlled passes.
- Apply hygiene & infection-prevention for peels/needling (trolley set-up, zoning, PPE, single- use/sterile items, sharps awareness where relevant).
- Perform patch testing, skin priming (where indicated), timing/contact-time management, and safe neutralisation/termination of peels.
- Manage expected reactions vs. adverse events; execute first responses and escalation pathways; document thoroughly.
- Provide post-care and home-care guidance; set expectations on downtime, sun protection, and rebooking cadence.
- Maintain audit-ready records (consent, batch/lot, photography, after-care, incident logs) aligned to insurer/regulator requirements.
Target Audience
- Experienced beauty therapists/aestheticians progressing from foundational facial therapy
- Salon/spa/clinic practitioners expanding into non-medical advanced skin services
- Supervisors/owners standardising protocols, documentation, and safety
Entry Requirements
- Age 18+; Professional Certificate in Skin Anatomy / Facial Therapy or equivalent practical experience.
- English proficiency (IELTS 5.0–5.5 or equivalent recommended).
- Willingness to adhere strictly to non-medical scope and local licensing/insurance rules.
Programme Structure & Modules
- Medical history (e.g., isotretinoin/retinoids, anticoagulants, pregnancy), allergies, keloid tendency, active infection
- Fitzpatrick typing & sun history
- Informed consent language, scope of practice & referral boundaries
- Barrier function, wound-healing stages (awareness)
- Pigmentation & PIH risk factors

- Peel families: AHA (glycolic/lactic/mandelic), BHA (salicylic), enzymatic, superficial blended systems
- Strength, pH, vehicles, and contact-time control in non-medical practice
- Priming, degreasing, layering, fan & timing discipline, neutralisation/termination, and endpoint recognition
- Indications (dullness, congestion, mild texture/tonality) vs contraindications (active eczema/psoriasis in area, broken skin, recent sunburn, isotretinoin use, pregnancy—per product IFU)
- Device types (manual pen vs cartridge systems) and sterile, single-use consumables
- Depth selection within cosmetic limits set by local law and device IFUs; number of passes and pattern control

- Patch-test locations, timings, documentation
- Skin priming (e.g., gentle acids/retinoid wash-outs per IFU)
- Sequencing peels/needling sessions and spacing to minimise risk
- Barrier repair, emollients, gentle cleansers, strict SPF; what to avoid (heat, exfoliants, actives, makeup timelines)
- PIH minimisation in higher-Fitzpatrick types; staged re-introduction of actives
- Excessive erythema, frosting beyond expectation, burns, infection risk indicators
- First response protocols, documentation, and escalation/referral to medical care when indicated
- Incident/near- miss reporting and CAPA
- Consent packs, batch/lot & expiry logs, device serials, cleaning/maintenance logs
- Before/after photography ethics & storage
