Advanced Professional Certificate in Business Impact Analysis and Continuity Planning (ISO 22317 and ISO 22318)
The Advanced Professional Certificate in Business Impact Analysis and Continuity Planning (ISO
22317 and ISO 22318) develops practical expertise to quantify disruption impacts .
Course Overview
The Advanced Professional Certificate in Business Impact Analysis and Continuity Planning (ISO
22317 and ISO 22318) develops practical expertise to quantify disruption impacts and design robust
continuity strategies across the enterprise and supply chain. Building on ISO 22301 fundamentals,
the programme dives deep into ISO 22317 (BIA) and ISO 22318 (supply chain continuity) to produce
defensible RTO/RPO targets, dependency maps, and riskbased continuity plans—so organisations
can protect critical services, customer obligations, and brand reputation.
Why This Course is Important?
- Evidencebased resilience: A rigorous BIA turns guesswork into measurable recovery targets and investment cases.
- Endtoend coverage: Integrates internal processes with supplier/outsourcer dependencies per ISO 22318.
- Assurance that stands up to scrutiny: Methods and artefacts that withstand audits, client reviews, and board oversight.
- Career progression: Positions practitioners for senior BCM/Operational Resilience roles.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:
- Apply ISO 22317 methodology to scope, plan, and execute a Business Impact Analysis.
- Elicit and quantify impacts (financial, operational, legal/regulatory, customer, ESG) over time horizons to define RTO, RPO, MTPD, and MBCO.
- Map endtoend dependencies (people, sites, technology, data, suppliers, logistics) and identify single points of failure.
- Prioritise processes/services and determine recovery tiering and sequencing across the portfolio.
- Select and justify continuity strategies (alternate sites, workforce, technology/DR, suppliers, inventory, workarounds).
- Apply ISO 22318 concepts to assess supplier criticality, continuity capabilities, and contractual obligations.
