Whitestone International Diploma in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)
The Whitestone International Diploma in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a 12-month vocational programme designed to provide a structured, practice-oriented foundation in teaching English to children, young people.
Course Overview
The Whitestone International Diploma in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is a 12-month vocational programme designed to provide a structured, practice-oriented foundation in teaching English to children, young people, and adults in diverse international and multilingual contexts.
The programme brings together four core dimensions:
- Foundations of language, second-language acquisition, and TESOL methodology at vocational–intermediate level.
- Practical classroom skills for teaching listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary to learners with varied proficiency levels.
- Lesson planning, assessment-for-learning, classroom management, and use of resources and technology in TESOL settings.
- Professional practice, intercultural competence, and ethical, learner-centred teaching. It is intended for individuals who teach or wish to teach English in language institutes, private centres, schools, colleges, corporate-training settings, and community programmes where English is taught as a foreign or additional language.
Learners will explore how TESOL practitioners analyse learner needs, set realistic goals, plan and deliver communicative lessons, adapt materials, manage multilingual classrooms, assess learning, and reflect on their practice, with strong emphasis on clear language models, learner engagement, and practical classroom strategies.
This diploma is vocational and non-regulated. It does not by itself confer state school-teacher licensure (e.g. QTS or equivalent), does not replace accredited initial teacher education programmes, CELTA-type qualifications, or postgraduate TESOL degrees, and does not guarantee work-visa eligibility. Licensing, registration, immigration status, and formal recognition of teaching qualifications are determined solely by national authorities, regulatory bodies, and employers in each jurisdiction.
Why This Course is Important?
- Learners worldwide seek English to access study, employment, and international collaboration, creating sustained demand for competent TESOL practitioners.
- Effective teachers need pedagogical knowledge, classroom strategies, intercultural awareness, and reflective skills, not only language ability.
- A clear TESOL qualification, grounded in international practice and classroom application, helps teachers and centres enhance credibility, learner outcomes, and programme quality.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:
- Explain core concepts in language systems, second-language acquisition (awareness level), and TESOL methodology at a vocational–intermediate level.
- Plan and deliver learner-centred English lessons that integrate skills and language work appropriately for specific levels and contexts.
- Use a range of classroom techniques, activities, and interaction patterns to support communicative competence and learner engagement.
