Advanced Professional Certificate in Decarbonisation Pathways & Net-Zero Strategy (SBTi, PAS 2060)
The Advanced Professional Certificate in Decarbonisation Pathways & Net-Zero Strategy enables
organisations to move from emissions inventories to credible, finance-aware transition plans.
Participants learn how to set science-based targets (SBTi), design least-cost abatement pathways,
build governance.
Course Overview
The Advanced Professional Certificate in Decarbonisation Pathways & Net-Zero Strategy enables
organisations to move from emissions inventories to credible, finance-aware transition plans.
Participants learn how to set science-based targets (SBTi), design least-cost abatement pathways,
build governance and financing mechanisms, and achieve PAS 2060-compliant carbon neutrality on
the journey to net-zero. The programme covers Scope 1–3 levers, procurement and energy strategy,
product/value-chain decarbonisation, high-quality credits for hard-to-abate residuals, and
transparent reporting—so leaders can deliver real-world emissions reductions with evidence that
withstands assurance.
Why This Course is Important?
- Investor-grade credibility: Targets and roadmaps grounded in SBTi logic and robust measurement avoid greenwash.
- Operational impact: Costed abatement portfolios accelerate execution and reveal sequencing/priorities.
- Market advantage: Demonstrable progress towards net-zero strengthens customer confidence and access to capital.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:
- Translate a GHG inventory into SBTi-aligned near-term and net-zero targets with boundaries and assumptions.
- Build a decarbonisation portfolio using marginal abatement cost curves (MACC), phasing, and inter-dependencies.
- Design energy and procurement strategies (efficiency, electrification, PPAs/I-RECs/GOOs) and quantify impacts.
- Prioritise Scope 3 levers (supplier engagement, design-for-low-carbon, logistics, use-phase, end-of-life).
- Establish a net-zero operating model: governance, budgets, internal carbon price, KRIs/KPIs, and controls.
- Apply PAS 2060 requirements for credible carbon neutrality claims on the pathway to net- zero.
- Select and document high-integrity carbon credits for residuals; evidence quality and retirement.
- Produce a concise, investor-ready transition plan and disclosure narrative.
Target Audience
- Sustainability/ESG leaders, Energy/Facilities, Supply Chain & Procurement
- Finance/Strategy, FP&A, Investor Relations and Risk/ERM professionals
- Product/Operations owners accountable for Scope 1–3 reductions
- Consultants and programme managers leading net-zero initiatives
Entry Requirements
- Working knowledge of GHG accounting (Scopes 1–3) is recommended.
- Spreadsheet/BI capability for basic modelling.
- Proficiency in English (IELTS 5.5 or equivalent suggested).
